Movie Gallery

Below you’ll find a collection of the short films that I’ve made. If you want to watch them full screen, click that little icon beside the “Vimeo” logo at the bottom right-hand corner of each video.

COFFEE AND MILK

Made in Busan, South Korea during my stint teaching ESL, this film was a product of two minds, mine as a foreign teacher in need of his morning coffee, and of Murat Copcu’s, who was a Master’s candidate at Kyungsung University. The students featured here were my real students. It was a great exercise because not only do I have this little keepsake from my time there, but I was able to stretch the script into a three-part lesson! You can read more about the film here.

CREATION

This short film, just over seven minutes long, goes back to my university days. Surprisingly, no drugs were consumed before or during the production of the film, though I’ll admit it’s kind of trippy. In any event, I was playing around with the built-in special effects of the video camera while using black lights and toilet paper for other parts.

THE FIVE MUSES

[vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/17308962[/vimeo]

Shot in Winnipeg, Canada but not finished until I arrived in South Korea, The Five Muses was inspired by a song written by one of my former bands but loosely based on a Ukrainian folk tale. The Ukrainian folk tale tells the story of how three separate musicians try to entice a lady. Hearing them one at a time, she finally suggests they might sound good together. This film was shot on 16mm, black and white film and finished to digital. You can read more about the film here.

BLACK SEA MANIA

A promotional music video for Zrada, for whom I played drums for a few years. The video footage was taken during our first studio session for the recording Return of the Wagon.

THE 62-HOUR BUS TRIP

[vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/18912671[/vimeo]

Composed of shots from my bus trip from Winnipeg to Toronto on route to Poland and Ukraine, this video showcases some gorgeous Canadian winter scenery from Manitoba’s prairie lands to Ontario’s rock formations and lakes.

POZNAN GOATS

A short film about the famous Goat Clock in Poznan, Poland.
