When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Further, I don’t collect any personally identifiably information on you unless you provide it to me (such as your email address). I keep contact form submissions for customer service purposes and may use them for my own marketing purposes (for products or offers directly related to this website), but do not sell or license or give away your address to a third party.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. Examples of embedded content is vimeo.com, soundcloud.com and youtube.com.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to track website usage and, by default, they collect some information about your usage of this website. This information may include your IP address which may reveal the city or country you are located. You can see a full description of their Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and/or at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Likewise, we use Bluehost to host this website and they may also collect information on how you use this website. Their Privacy Policy can be found at https://www.bluehost.com/terms/privacy-policy.

Who we share your data with

I use a bunch of different plugins to help manage and run this website, including CommentLuv, Contact Form 7, Disqus for WordPress, Instagram Feed, Statpress Reloaded, Wordfence Security, Yoast SEO and Google Adsense. These plugins may collect additional data on your usage of this site and you are encouraged to seek out their Privacy Policies for further information on what they collect and how they use it.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

And, I should warn you, if you make a request for this data, it might take a while for me to figure out how to do it and then send it to you because I’m not the most tech savvy guy in the world.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

If you have any further questions, you can get in touch by sending me an email at stevensirski [at] gmail [dot] com.

***In general, by using this website you agree that you’ll have to submit some information about you but we over here at stevensirski.com won’t be flaunting this information around the internet. We track visitors for customer service purposes but we don’t sell any of this information to other people. We just want to know which posts are popular and which are not while also displaying some ads from time to time (such Google AdSense or Amazon Affiliates).
