May You Make Your Movie – May 17, 2021 – Music Visualizer

Today I went with the ‘music video’ challenge but, instead of what we probably all think about what a music video should be, I went a more creative route that pushed my boundaries in Motion once again.

The track is titled something like Track 2 as it comes from a jam session I did with a guy I met in a bar in Montreal. Literally, like a pick up but for music. ‘You play guitar? I play drums. Let’s jam!’ A few days later we had a rehearsal space rented and this was the result. The session was recorded my Zoom H4n, the same one I have been using for my podcast.

One issue I had with the video is that I couldn’t get the visualizations to completely follow the frequencies. Motion has some restrictions on which frequencies it can bounce along to and this music file was nearer the upper end of the spectrum, ie, not much low end. I guess I could’ve worked on the track in Logic a little bit but decided to focus on the video rather the music at this time.

And if you were wondering if this was another follow along tutorial, yes, it was! I followed along with another one of Simon Ubsdell’s YouTube tutorials which are, to say the least, very easy to follow.
