New York City Music

My last post on New York City focused on the things we did in the city. However, one of the things New York is known for is its vibrant music scene. Although I only got to go to one small jazz venue (the Bathtub Gin House), I did capture a bit of the city’s musical spirit on the streets. Below you’ll find a few videos of the music and musicians I witnessed in New York City.

Jam Night at The Bitter End
I was told about this jam at the last minute after a stop at the Bathtub Gin House. The “show” didn’t start until 11:30 pm (don’t these people have day jobs?), it lasted until about 4 am or so. A lot of funk music was played and there was even a special guest appearance by Mr. Jon Stamos of Full House fame and Tim from the Beach Boys. Crazy night in New York for sure. Or is this a regular thing? Anyway, three videos for you…

The Red Lion
Next up was The Red Lion located right beside The Bitter End on Bleecker Street.

Central Park
If you’ve never been to New York, Central Park is kinda central but not really any more. It is a sprawling park and buskers/street performers line one of the main walkways, playing their songs and hawking their ware.
